I slept over at Celine's place, as the house where I live is really far from the city center. The plan was: we go out for a while, come back and sleep. The real deal? We were successful in fulfilling the first two points, but not surprisingly going to bed was kind of impossible. So we talked on the kitchen floor, listened to The Kooks and watched sick things on TV (don't ask :)) And then, prior to sleeping we set our alarm clocks. Why?! Because on November 14, the Jimmy Choo for H&M Collection got released (which is... today). So now we're already talking life and death matters. I was in desperate need of some zebra and Celine saw red - red shoes that is. And it seemed absolutely reasonable to get three hours of sleep before we hit the shop. I relied on the increased level of aggresiveness and decreased level of tolerance I usually have due to lack of sleep, which would double my chances of getting all the things I wanted. But unfortunately upon waking up I was tired enough to a) mistake Celine for her sister and b) go to the kitchen, attempt to eat a cheese toast and forget to put cheese inside... However, we somehow got to the city around 8 am, which now seems like a miracle to me, as I am dead tired and while I really want to go out - and wear my new shooooes :)) - I can hardly move, so leaving my chair (unless I move to my bed) is Mission Impossible.
8 am, Vienna's first district. We came, we saw... we went to the back of the line and waited. No conquering yet. I knew that only the first 160 people would get to buy the Jimmy Choo shoes&accessories in small groups, meaning that you were quite likely to get what you want. I am really bad at making estimations of "how-many-people-are-standing-in-front-of-me?", so I went all the way to the front and started counting, one by one :)) Most people thought I was mentally disturbed, but that does not bother me. I got to around 130 - which meant - YESSS. And I was surprisingly accurate - I got a wrist band number 38. Now, 160-38=122. So I was the 122nd person to get in. Which seemed to be good enough :)) There were 8 timezones, and we got the penultimate (pink - a good sign :)) one, at 11.15 am.
At 9.30, the shop would open its doors though - and because I wanted to get a beautiful Jimmy Choo dress, we just went to Starbucks (which was just accross the street) to sit down and have a cup of something warm. Oddly enough I did not order a double espresso, which is the only type of coffee I drink (I don't drink my coffee with neither sugar nor milk), I got a Chai Tea Latte. Yummy, can't believe I've never tried it before! I also bought their Christmas Blend 2009 coffee - I'm sipping it while writing this post and it's really good.
This is a depiction of the pink wristbands and the neverending fight of BlackBerry (me) versus iPhone (Celine). I win, yes. But anyway... When we left Starbucks, there was another (yet another, and not the last) queue awaiting us...
As you can see the shop assistants, the manager and all the staff were looking out the window, laughing at us :)) Oh well. What followed the opening of the entrance was very ludicrous indeed. I was sincerely scared when a fat woman (or a man, she had a moustache) pushed me and I flew 3 meters away from her. And I guess I have some chronical lack of pushiness, because when I finally got to the racks, all of the beautiful dresses were gone. Oh well... Shoes. We waited for about 3 hours - yes, we realize we're utter losers - dying of exhaustion.
11.15 am, Kaerntner Strasse, H&M.
She moved closer and closer untill she touched them. She brushed her fingers over the soft zebra print fabric, ran her fingertips across the soles and found herself in zebra heaven. Meanwhile Celine was seeing red. "I'm coming for you, babies!" she shouted, enraged after having seen multiple women come and go, stealing her little piece of red strappy paradise. And then it happened. They were in her hands and she whipped out her credit card and smiled.
So finally, here they are... :)))
...and my beautiful zebras.
The important thing is - I got my little Jimmies sitting on a chair right next to me, watching me as I write this post. They're my zebra babies <3
