As I already told you, I am going to the Czech republic today. On Saturday I'll go to a ball organized by my old school, on Tuesday I will be staying in a beautiful design hotel in the center of Prague just to complete the TSA (Thinking Skills Assessment) which is an Oxford admission test the next morning and from then on I'll be spending quality time with my dearest ;)) Even though there is a gigantic amount of homework I have to get done, I am super excited! This said, I have to let you down with one thing - posting. I will not have any internet connection and therefore will not be able to update you on what I'm doing and what I'm wearing while doing it (is it just me or does that sound inapproprite? :))

As for this outfit: On Wednesday, my friend Sara has a small ladies only party at her house - we ate truffle cake, drank champagne, danced and made stupid pictures... Very girly and enjoyable to not have to worry about one's underwear showing :D

Jak už jsem vám říkala, zítra pojedu do Čech. V sobotu půjdu na ples organizovaný mojí bývalou školou, v úterý budu přespávat v nádherném luxusním hotelu v centru Prahy jen proto, abych ve středu ráno mohla složit takzvanou TSA zkoušku na Oxford and potom už budu jen a jen se svým nejdražším ;)) Přestože toho mám neskutečně moc na práci do školy, moc se těším! Jedinou nevýhodou je, že bohužel nebudu mít přístup k internetu a proto se s vámi "uvidím" až za týden.

Co se týče tohoto outfitu: ve středu měla moje kamarádka Sara u sebe doma čistě dámskou slavu svých 18. narozenin  - jedly jsme lanýžový dort, pily šapmaňské, tancovaly a fotily hloupé fotky... Celkově to bylo velice "holčičkovské" a nemusely jsme se obávat, že nám někdo bude zírat na prsa :D

Na na na na

I am very sad right now, because my search for a song I heard on the radio today bore no fruits. Maybe it has something to do with the fact, that the only lyrics I can recall go as follows: na na na na na na... In case you're wondering - yes, that is indeed what I am typing into Google, expecting it to yield some results. God bless my naivety, I know.
Today I went to Prater with my boyfriend and his 9-year old brother. I'm always a bit nervous of being with his little bro, because we don't really have a common language to communicate in and I feel like a total moron... But seeing as am learning Russian, I gave that a go and even though I made some funny mistakes and he probably thinks I'm slightly retarded, I think he understood me :)) First we ate sour sweet chicken from Mr. Lee and we looked like a trio of hobos, because we were sharing one bucket between ourselves (I thought I wasn't hungry till I smelled the food) and fighting like bloodthirsty beasts with our plastic forks. Observation: men are like dogs around their food, I swear, do not touch them when they're eating and most importantly do not touch their food. My mistake :)) Then we rented Alexei a Segway and I was racing with him - FIY I had no Segway myself, I was running - and surprisingly I did not caugh my lungs out, which is a great revelation. I'm usually not around kids very often and I really enjoyed it, I was fooling around and dancing and overall being a kid myself.
Apologies for the reoccurring vampirism in the form of sparkling red eyes (that's right Edward, I drink human blood, you crybaby) on the following photos - let the fact that I am wearing a huge cross on my neck redeem me. Or not.

Update: My boyfriend just sent me a text message saying that his brother said: "Sabina finally learned to speak Russian." While at first I found that profoundly hilarious - "oh, so your retarded girlfriend can speak now!" - it was explained to me, that since he used the word speak, it means I was actually conversing coherently enough to be considered as talking rather than trying&failing. Hurray! :))

I'll lay you down in a bed of roses

On Friday, I celebrated my name's day with my parents - I bought two new dresses and ate a humongous plate of sushi in a Japanese restaurant called Tokori, which is located right in the center of Vienna. Do any of you actually celebrate your name's day? I figured out that in most countries it isn't exactly a big deal and people don't celebrate it at all, but in the Czech republic it's like a small birthday :)) Yesterday I had a really nice sleepover at a friend's house and now I'm trying to cram for Chemistry - organic compounds anyone?

V pátek mají blázni (a 22. října i Sabiny) svátek a já jsem svůj oslavila s rodiči - koupila jsem si dvoje nové šaty a snědla obrovitanánský talíř sushi v japonské restauraci Tokori, která je přímo v centru Vídně. Zjistila že narozdíl od nás, většina cizinců jmeniny vůbec neslaví - jejich smůla ;)) Včera jsem přespávala u kamarádky a dneska se snažím nabiflovat se na chemii - organická chemie, někdo?

I only have one week of school left until my Autumn Break! I must admit I'm quite excited - just like in spring (click to read about my previous vacation) my boyfriend and I will be going to the Czech republic. I love to show him the places where I grew up, where I went to school, built bunkers out of wood and mud... I promise I will take more pictures than last time! :))

Už mi zbývá jen týden školy do podzimních prázdnin! Musím přiznat, že se už strašně moc těším - jako na jaře (klik pro přečtení článku o mé předchozí návštěvě Čech s přítelem) pojedu se svým přítelem do Čech. Ráda ho provázím po místech, kde jsem vyrůstala, kde jsem chodila do školy, stavěla bunkry ze dřeva a hlíny... Slibuju, že tentokrát budu fotit podstatně víc než minule! :))

All roads lead to Rome

The title is actually the title of one of the songs I wrote this summer - I hope I'll get a chance to have a proper look at it with the band sometime soon! :)) I really love writing songs, it is something that relaxes me and oftentimes helps me figure out my true feelings. I usually don't share them with people, but hey - why not, you're my faithful readers :)) Figuratively speaking, it means that all the different paths you take may lead you to the same goal. While I don't believe in destiny and in things being predetermined, this proverb doesn't have to be taken in that sense. It can merely be seen as a reminder, that there are many approaches one can choose from in order to achieve what he desires. Here is a part of it:

Dnešní titulek je ve skutečnosti název jedné z mnoha písniček, které jsem napsala letos v létě - doufám, že brzo dostanu šanci zkusit ji zahrát s kapelou :))  Moc rádu píšu písničky, je to pro mě způsob relaxace a odpočinku a taky někdy cesta k sebepoznání a k pochopení svých pocitů. Většinou se o písničky moc nedělím, ale nu což - vy jste mí věrní čtenáři :)) Obrazně řečeno, tohle přísloví znamená že nehledě na to jakými cestou se ve svém životě vydáme, dovedou nás na stejné místo. Nevěřím na osud, ale tohle přísloví se dá pochopit i jinak - připomíná nám, že v životě je mnoho způsobů jak dosáhnout toho, po čem naše srdce touží :) Tady je část, anglicky protože nevěřím na překlady písní či básní:

I got my mind set on you

This entire week I was working on my UCAS application (an application to British universities), which was a very difficult and important decision about my future. I chose a course called PPE, which stands for Politics, Philosophy and Economics - three fields that really interest me. I'm even studying the latter two as a part of my IB (International Baccalaureate). The universities I am applying to are Durham, Oxford, UCL, Warwick and York... Some of the best in the UK and even in the world, so I can't help but share my happiness about my achievements this year... I got 43 (out of 45) points predicted in the IB, so I am very proud of myself and I am hoping to get into one of the best of these!

Celý tenhle týden jsem se zaobírala svojí UCAS přihláškou (přihláška na britské univerzity), což je velmi důležité a složité rozhodnutí o mé budoucnosti. Rozhodla jsem se pro obor jménem PPE, což znamená politika, filozofie a ekonomie - tři fantastické obory, které mě velmi zajímají. Studuji dokonce ty poslední dva jako součást mého IB (International Baccalaureate). Univerzity na které si podávám přihlášku jsou Durham, Oxford, UCL, Warwick a York... Jedny z nejlepších ve Velké Británii a i na světě, takže se s vámi musím podělit o své letošní úspěchy... Dostala jsem předpovězených 43 (z 45) bodů v IB, takže jsem na sebe velmi pyšná a doufám že se dostanu na nejlepší z těchto univerzit!

But I suppose my "pixie dust" years ended and I have become a different person since I've started this blog in 2009. What do you think about my thoughts?

I am currently zealously (...) working on my Extended Essay, for which I'm researching the book "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley, hence the title. I will not write much today - I have already written about 2,000 words about governmental control today, so I have no literary ambitions left in me :) Last photos from my photoshoot with Evgeny - enjoy! :))

Právě teď horlivě (...) pracuji na své "Extended Essay", pro kterou musím zkoumat knihu jménem "Konec civilizace"("Brave New World" v originále) od Aldouse Huxleyho, proto ten titulek. Dneska moc psát nebudu - už jsem dneska napsala kolem dvou tisíc slov o vládní kontrole a mé literární ambice pomalu mizí :) Poslední set fotek, které jsem nafotila pro Evgenyho portfolio - užijte si je! :))

Shawty, it's ma birthday!

As promised, today I am bringing you the post many of you ladies asked for - what I did on my birthday. I would like to make a little comparison of my sweet 16 party last year and this year's celebration of being 17. Let's start with my super sweet sixteen, which I celebrated in style and luxury, with a ride in a stretch limousine and partying in a fancy club. (If you want to see some more photos, look here.)

Jak jsem slíbila, dnes vám přináším příspěvek, na který se spousta z vás očividně velmi těšila - jak jsem oslavila své narozeniny. Minulý rok jsem své 16. narozeniny slavila stylově a velmi luxusně, v limuzíně a posléze v pěkném klubu. Ukážu vám teď několik fotek ze své oslavy. (Pokud se chcete podívat na víc, klikněte zde.)

Now, for my 17th birthday, I did not want anything as sumptuous as this... But I had an amazing time celebrating and what I did was much sweeter. Or rather what was done for me.
So, on the day of my birthday, which was a Monday, I went to school as usual and celebrated by writing a Chemistry test and a long essay for English. I knew my boy was up to something, but I wouldn't get him to tell me what it was - besides, I love (nice) surprises :)) The only information I got was: "It involves dressing up pretty, your favorite ;)" Still clueless, I went home with him and changed into a seriously naaaaaice golden dress with a corset top, which I chose for my birthday. Leo also styled up and looked amazing. First we went to eat in a nice Chinese restaurant near my place (of course I forgot to take out my camera) and then I just let him lead me... We arrived at the main Viennese square, Stephansplatz, and I was still clueless... until I was lead to a horse-driven carriage!!!

Na své 17. narozeniny jsem nechtěla takový přepych... Ale měla jsem se absolutně báječně a co jsem dělala bylo mnohem roztomilejší. Nebo spíš co bylo uděláno pro mě.

Moje narozeniny letos připadly na pondělí a tak jsem strávila první část dne klasicky ve škole a slavila testem z chemie a esejí na angličtinu. Věděla jsem, že můj přítel něco chystá, ale nemohla jsem z něj dostat co - a navíc zbožňuju (dobrá) překvapení ;)) Jediná informace, kterou jsem dostala byla: "Musíš se vystrojit, přesně jak máš ráda ;)" Pořád nicnetušící jsem dojela domů a převlékla se do opravdu kráááásných zlatých šatů s korzetovým vrškem. Leo se taky vyšňořil a vypadal báječně. Nejdřív jsme se najedli v pěkné čínské restauraci (samozřejmě jsem zapomněla cokoliv vyfotit) a potom jsem se nechala vést... Dojeli jsme na hlavní vídeňské náměstí, Stephansplatz, a pořád jsem nic netušila... a najednou mě Leo dovedl ke kočáru taženému koňmi!!!

We drove through the beautiful historical center, passing by Stephansdom, Hofburg, the national library, the Parliament, Opera, Rathaus and many other places. I walk by some of these daily, but for once I was actually appreciating their grandiose architecture. It was very very romantic and I felt like a princess. The carriage stopped and I didn't know where I was being taken... We walked around a bit, through a beautiful passage with a stone fountain in the middle and when we got cold, I finally found out :)) We went to this really pretty cafe called Orlando di Castello - if you live in Vienna or are visiting, you should check it out. It's expensive, but they have the cutest desserts ever... Mine consisted of two pink macarons, rose-water foam, lychee and raspberries and it was so good, even though I had to face a decorum issue when I was trying to figure out how to eat it (I mean, it was like a Big Mac :))). But I resolved that and happily indulged.

Projížděli jsme se nádherným historickým centrem Vídně, kolem Stephansdomu, Hofburgu, národní knihovny, parlamentu, opery a Rathausu. Chodím kolem některých z těch památek každý den, ale pro jednou jsem doopravdy vstřebávala jejich velkolepou architekturu. Bylo te velmi velmi romantické a připadala jsem si jako princezna. Kočár zastavil a já jsem pořád nevěděla co se chystá... Trošku jsme se procházeli krásnou pasáží s velkou kamennou fontánou uprostřed a když mi začala být zima, konečně jsem se to dozvěděla :)) Šli jsme do opravdu hezké kavárny Orlando di Castello - bydlí-li některé z vás ve Vídni nebo se jí chystáte navštívit, rozhodně byste se tam měli podívat. Pravda, je tam draho, ale mají nejroztomilejší dezerty na světě... Můj byl takový hamburger ze dvou macaronů, pěny z růžové vody, liči a malin a byl strašně dobrý, přestože jsem měla etické dilema když jsem se snažila přijít na způsob ja onen dezert jíst. Ale nakonec jsem to vyřešila a jenom si užívala :))

If my boyfriend reads this (which he will not), he should know that it was a beautiful surprise (which he knows) and that I love him very much (which he knows too). I'm such a lucky girl.

Now, let me move on to something you will all like - my photoshoot with Evgeny, this time in an abandoned building! :)) I know I said I'd update you on how I celebrated my birthday with my boyfriend on Monday, but my laptop is being a stubborn little {I'm sure you can think of a bad word yourself} and therefore you get my wonderful self dressed in a feathery skirt and sky-scraper heels. The building we shot in is completely abandoned... or should I say, is completely abandoned, but people come there to poo-poo on tables. And drink Jaegermeister. But I done want to talk about that... we did none of the above and left shortly after we began hearing voices (not like we're crazy, actual voices, I'm sure :))
 
Dovolte mi představit téma, které se vám očividně velice zamlouvá - moje fotky ve spolupráci s Evgenym, tentokrát v opuštěné budově! :)) Vím, že jsem včera říkala, že vám ukážu fotky z pondělka, kdy jsem oslavila své narozeniny se svým drahým, ale můj notebook je bohužel... zlobivoučkatý (rozhodla jsem se, že dáma jako já nemůže mluvit sprostě :)). A proto namísto toho dostanete mojí maličkost oděnou v sukni pošité peřím a v mrakodrapových podpatcích. Budova, ve které jsme fotili je úplně opuštěná... s výjimkou toho, že lidé tam chodí a kakají na stoly. A pijí Jaegermeister. Ale o tom jindy (a nebo nikdy)... žádnou z výše uvedených věcí jsme nedělali a odešli jsme brzy potom, co jsme začali slyšet hlasy (ne, nezláznili jsme se, opravdické hlasy :))
